Edward J. Chanoski Jr., Councilman at Large, was born and raised in Steubenville, Ohio and graduated from Steubenville High School in 1989. He earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Communications from The Ohio State University in 1994. He then decided to go to work with his father out of Laborers Local 809 in blast furnace construction. After two years in the steel mills he went back to school and earned his second Bachelors degree in Elementary Education from Franciscan University of Steubenville in 1997. That same year the Steubenville City School System hired him as a fifth grade teacher. In 2000, he earned his Masters Degree in Education Administration and in 2006 he earned his principal and superintendent certificates. In his eleven years of teaching he has taught at the elementary, middle school, and high school levels. Mr. Chanoski is currently the Principal at Springfield Middle School in the Edison Local School District.

   Outside of education, Mr.Chanoski is also the owner and promoter of Next Level Fighting Inc, a mixed martial arts company that trains, manages and promotes ultimate
cage fighters. Mr. Chanoski is married to Laura (Conrad) who is also born and raised in Steubenville. She is a dental Hygienist. They have a beautiful 6-year old daughter, Olivia Kneen Irene.

      Mr. Chanoski was elected to serve a four year term beginning January 1, 2008. He serves on the Park and Recreation, Transportation, and Safety and Health Committees.
