The Law Director is a public servant that is not often in the public eye. Although it is not regularly seen, the law department assists our community in many ways. This department performs all the legal matters for the city, it appoints the prosecutor and his assistant, prepares ordinances, and takes care of law suits.

Gary is a 1970 graduate of Steubenville High School. He received a B.A. degree from the Ohio State University and received his Juris Doctorate degree from Ohio Northern University Law School in November of 1979. He started working for the City of Steubenville in May of 1983 as the Police Prosecutor until his appointment as the City's Law Director in October of 1986. Mr. Repella has served on various Boards and Commissions at the state and local levels of government. He served as a founding member of the Board of Trustees of the Ohio Municipal League Insurance Pool and presently serves as the President of the Ohio Municipal Attorneys Association.
